WordPress RC1

WordPress Fluid IconWith the release of RC1, we’re in the final leg of development before the release of 2.7.

280 commits since beta 3 have polished the new admin UI (including new menu icons created by the winners of our icon design contest) and fixed all known blocker bugs.

We think RC1 is ready for everyone to try out. Please download RC1 and help us make the final release the best it can be. As always, back up your blog before upgrading.

I’m pretty sure the author of this post is Ryan Boren, and that it was posted on the wordpress.org development blog. It’s helpful to use blockquote and attribution when you post things like this, since the personal pronouns the text saying you’re the author might confuse some people about the actual source.

Yep, fair call. Thought the pingback would have been enough, but like you said it still can come across as taking credit as the pingback isn’t public knowledge.
The post has been updated to suit. Cheers :)
